Welcome To Our Mission Work In Suriname South America
World Team is a mission organization striving to glorify God by working to establish reproducing churches among the unreached peoples of the world. This web site is dedicated to our mission teams in Suriname for them to use as a platform to spread the news of God's work there.
Suriname is a small country nestled on the north east coast of South America between the countries of Guyana and French Guiana. Suriname gained it's independence from the Netherlands in 1975. Before that time it was known as Netherlands Guiana or Dutch Guiana.
Suriname has an area of 163,270 sq. km (63,039 sq. mi.), or slightly larger than the US state of Georgia. It is a tropical country of rolling hills with a narrow swampy coastal plain. The climate is warm and humid all year. The 1992 population was 437,000, with almost half being urban dwellers.
